Hey fellow Tumblr-ers (Tumblites? Tumblanders??) It’s been a while, but I’m back with some illustration-y goodness!
I’m challenging myself to making character designs from the catalog of the late, great fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Many of you will be familiar with McQueen’s work because of Lady Gaga, who most memorably wore his designs in her video for “Bad Romance”.
Anyway, these drawings are meant to be relatively quick and spontaneous to get me out of my comfort zone, and I plan to experiment with a bunch of different techniques. Some days, I’ll probably be more literal than others, but hopefully, I’ll always learn something.
Today’s character design is based on a bullfighter-inspired outfit from his “El bail de toro retorcido” collection (“The dance of the kinky bull”)
I promised my personal trainer that I’d make a character for him all the way back in January. I just now finally got around to it. =) Of course, getting a brand spankin’ new Cintiq HD is an easy way to get motivated. Taz should feel honored that his is the first drawing made with my new toy!
If you live or work in downtown San Francisco, ask for him at the Embarcadero Crunch Fitness. You can also read his blog here.
Here are some summer-themed houses from our current game, Monopoly Millionaires. These launched in mid June, and lead up to the release of our special Fourth of July red and blue houses.
Charlotte invited Mike and me along with her class to visit the world-famous Columbus Zoo for some animal sketching.
Our friend, and CCAD professor, Charlotte Belland helped to make the arrangements to bring Mike and me back to our alma mater last week.
Curious what I do for work? Check out our game Monopoly Millionaires on Facebook. I’ve designed a bunch of houses in the game as well as many of the hotels. Here are some of the latest houses we’ve released- a set of mansions for players who reach level 25 and above.
If you’ve already played the game and haven’t been back in a while, check it out and see what’s new.
After all the student shows and celebrations, all is calm. Tomorrow’s Mike’s big commencement speech at CCAD.
As commencement speaker at tomorrow’s Columbus College of Art and Design graduation ceremony, Mike was treated with last minute tickets to tonight’s CCAD annual fashion show. Little did he realize what a swanky affair it would be, and even less did he realize he’d be an honored guest!
He was introduced by Andrea Cambern of WBNS 10TV, with front row seats across from Columbus mayor Michael Coleman… Being the commencement speaker has its perks!
